Born in Hackney, London, Spoony started DJing at 15, influenced by reggae, calypso, pop, and soul. In the mid-’90s, he formed the Dreem Teem, pioneering UK Garage and gaining radio success on Kiss FM, Galaxy FM, and BBC Radio 1. Spoony was also a resident DJ for “Twice as Nice” and performed at major festivals. Alongside music, he hosted BBC Radio 5 Live’s “606” and appeared on shows like Strictly Come Dancing. During the pandemic, he gained a cult following with his “Spoony’s House” streams. In 2022, he joined BBC Radio 2, presenting The Good Groove from Monday to Thursday nights.
